What are the costs involved?

  • Employers are often required to pay $1,000 for a Labor Market Impact Assessment. However, we can usually match you with programs to cover this.

 

Is there a guarantee to make sure your new employee works out?

Can we interview candidates before hiring them.

  • Yes.  We will arrange to have virtual interviews with you .


How long does it take?

  • Typically, hiring a worker from abroad takes 4-6 months from the time the request is submitted to when they start work.
     

Will the worker be able to communicate effectively in English?

  • Yes, English proficiency testing is conducted for each candidate.

  • You will also have the opportunity to virtually interview each person to assess their skills.

 
Do I need to provide housing or flights for the workers?

  • In 99% of cases, you are not required to provide these.

  • The only case where this is required is if you are hiring agricultural workers.

​To come to Canada as a temporary foreign worker through the LMIA programs, the foreign worker needs to follow these general steps:

​

1. Job offer and LMIA: The foreign worker needs to secure a job offer from a Canadian employer who has obtained a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for the position. The employer will provide the foreign worker with a copy of the positive LMIA.

​

2. Gather required documents: The foreign worker needs to gather the necessary documents, which may include a valid passport, educational credentials, work experience letters, language test results (if applicable), and any other supporting documents required by the specific work permit category.

​

3. Work permit application: The foreign worker must complete the work permit application, which can be done online or through paper forms, depending on their country of residence. The application should include the required forms, documents, and the appropriate fee.

​

4. Submit application to IRCC: The completed work permit application and supporting documents must be submitted to the appropriate visa office or visa application center of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in the foreign worker's country of residence. The application should be accompanied by the required fee payment.

​

5. Medical examination and police certificates: In some cases, foreign workers may be required to undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the health requirements. They may also need to provide police certificates to demonstrate good character and security clearance.

​

6. Wait for application processing: The application will be reviewed by IRCC. The processing time can vary, so the foreign worker should regularly check the status of their application through the online portal or by contacting IRCC.

​

7. Receive work permit approval: If the work permit application is approved, the foreign worker will receive a letter of introduction from IRCC. This letter will need to be presented to a border officer upon entry into Canada.

​

8. Entry into Canada: The foreign worker can travel to Canada and present the letter of introduction to the border officer. The officer will make the final decision on granting the work permit and will issue the work permit document, allowing the foreign worker to work legally in Canada.

​

It's important to note that there may be additional steps or requirements depending on the specific circumstances, such as the type of work permit, and any applicable visa requirements. Our foreign workers will have consulted with our immigration lawyers/ immigration consultants to ensure they have the most up-to-date information and to navigate the application process successfully.
